Alsbridge Reveals, Are Your Applications Supportable in an Outsourcing Model?

Award winning benchmarking, sourcing and transformation advisory firm, Alsbridge, Inc., today released a new report titled “Are My Applications Supportable in an Outsourcing Model?,” revealing a disciplined approach to analyzing the sourcing suitability of your applications portfolio to help guide you to a solid decision based on data.

The decision of which applications are candidates for sourcing is not always an easy one. The key to making an informed decision lies in developing a thorough applications portfolio inventory and then running various analyses to understand potential risks that would need to be mitigated if they were to be outsourced.

Applications Portfolio Inventory

To proceed with a disciplined sourcing suitability analysis, the first step is to ensure that you have a full inventory of your entire applications portfolio. This latest report by Alsbridge Inc., lists the detailed attributes that the inventory should contain.

The Six Applications Sourcing Suitability Criteria

There are six subjective attributes that should be captured as part of the overall applications portfolio inventory.

  1. Application Complexity
  2. Level of Documentation
  3. Application Maturity
  4. Application Stability
  5. Intellectual Property/Data Security Concerns
  6. End User Impact

Examples of Applications Portfolio Inventory Analysis

Once the foundation has been laid with an accurate applications portfolio inventory, you will be able to do several types of analyses that will provide you with the insight you need to make an informed decision on the scope of applications that can be sourced.  A few of these are illustrated below:

  • Overall Sourcing Suitability by Applications and by Applications Group
  • Supportability and Risk
  • Application Disposition
  • Costs of Maintaining, Enhancing and Developing Applications

The above examples, serving as good guidance to help you think through the questions to be answered for your specific situation are discussed in detail in the complete white paper Are My Applications Supportable in an Outsourcing Model?
